This is one of the best places at Town Center.  The food is so good and I always have trouble deciding what to order.  The bar area is such a fun place to hang out, especially outside with the big door open.  The beers are great as well.  We always love coming here!

I came here a few times. The first time I loved it. I ordered the cedar plank pecan salmon. It was mouth watering. It came with a side of ginger rice that was great as well. I was really satisfied. I came here again. I ordered the same thing. I'm not sure if it was a different cook, but it didn't taste as good the second time. I even got tired of the salmon at the end. My third time, I thought, maybe i'll try something different. So i ordered the Sea bass. For a dish that expensive, it was really salty. I tired to stuff it down, but i couldn't take all the sodium. We told the waitress about it who told the chef. He came down and asked us if everything was okay. So we told him the fish had too much salt in it. He offered to serve another dish to us but by then I was too full to order another dish. I thought he would have discounted the food or give us free dessert, but they didn't.

Also, some of the waitresses were snobby. sometimes the waitress forgot to put in the order, etc (good luck). The root beer was definitely an acquired taste, the waitress said they make it themselves in the resturant. Something went wrong.

I am not a fan of large "box" type restaurants at all. But when in "downtown" Virginia Beach or Towne Centre (as the city prefers) there is little else. So, my friends and I found ourselves in Gordon Biersch after bypassing the likes of Cheesecake Factory and P.F. Changs.

The atmosphere wasn't half bad, I must admit. It was quite spacious and gave off a sense of a more elegant dining spot. Within moments of sitting down our waitress was present asking for our drink order. Because it is a brewery she only knew about the beers though leaving a HUGE wine list and full bar listing up to our sense of dining adventure. After we just threw a drink order out, the waitress returned in about three minutes with our order and a free sampling of the beer offerings. It was really a nice gesture and while we didn't really enjoy the beer, the effort went a long way. (a fourth star, even!)

I ultimately settled on a house salad and the Grilled Chilean Sea Bass. I cannot believe I am saying this but it was OUTSTANDING. Overpriced? Yes. Tasty? Close to perfection, to be honest. The salmon tasted fresh and was cut into a really nice filet while serve with tasty (not over-salted, not oily) grilled vegetables and a bit of rice.

The three of us topped out at $101 but felt like it was worth it for the most part. I wouldn't seek out this restaurant but I would stop here above other spots when in the Virginia Beach area.

We took my boss ( a restaurant owner)  out for his 33rd birthday  and we decided to take him and 15 of us to Gorden Biersch and then out on the town.  We had reservations for 20 but 5 people couldn't make it before our limo left.  So we pull up in our hummer strech limo and pile out in the restaurant. They only had one waitress for all of us. It took 20 minutes for us to get our drinks. (and the place was empty by the way) We ordered our food and it came out cold or forgotten. We all are in the restaurant biz and give the waitress some slack for the kitechen- but then she was no where to be found. We were calling out her name and she was avoiding us! So we went up to the bar to get shots for the irthday boy, 3 times. No one ate their food but the waitress never asked us if anything was wrong with anything. It ruined our mood for the evening, and we just paid the $700 bill and thought we would takeit up with managment later. She added grat - good thing cuz we didn't want to leave her much. She could have gotten our tab up to 1500  if she had gotten our shots and made a tip of 500 if she had tried to take care of us.  The waitress was seriouly stupid. So once we left I emailed corporate about our visit. I got an apology and a handful of $5 coupons.  The guy seemed to understand and thought the waitress was new and agreed with me that she was a dumbass- but $15 bucks in coupons doesn't make me wanna go back. I will never ever eat there again in my life. And I have family and friends who work there now too, but I can't get that first dinner out of my head.

Ahh...Gordon Biersch. Gordon Biersch is my home away from home. Seriously, I live nowhere near GB, but when I'm in town visiting my boyfriend, we like coming here to meet up with friends.

First of all, most expansive and selective drinks list. I can always get my random Blueberry Stoli & soda. But their wine list is really impressive too (good wines by the glass are HARD to come by). Their food is equally impressive, not too trendy, but also very substantial and tasty. I like to sit at the big comfy booth at the head of the restaurant because you can talk as loud as you want, your voices remain in your little corner. It's great.

They always have some sort of game on too and the servers, although not too knowledgeable on the drinks, are always pretty attentive. Obviously, I'll be returning.

Came here for brunch on Mother's Day. The service was terrible. It took our server forever to get us our drinks, and check back on us when we finally got our food. It took almost an hour to get our food and it wasn't busy. The restaurant was full of empty tables.

As for the food, it was pretty bad as well. The soup tasted like they used too much flour, there were chunks in it. The salads were all wilted because they used way too much dressing. Also, their homemade root beer was almost flat and tasted "overly syrupy." A few people had various beers in our party and said they were just ok.

The only thing we liked was the do it yourself bloody marys. That was a great idea. The manager came over 3 times to tell us our food would be right out, even though it never happened. They never did anything to try and make the situation better either. I know I can be very critical but this experience was pretty bad. (My family owns a restaurant group w/ locations on the east & west coast.)

Things to consider....
1. Been to the location in San Diego. It was okay.
2. The VB location is relatively new. In it's first year and might need to iron out the kinks with the cooks/management.

That being said...
Probably won't ever go back.

yum..the food is really good.  The best is the artichoke and crab dip.  The service is great and they really know their beer.  Would definitely go back.

I have been here twice and had great experiences both times - the wait was great, the service was great and the food was awesome.  The first time I got a jambalaya dish which was extremely flavorful and the second time I got a hummus and goat cheese salad which was out of this world.   I would definitely recommend this place (or the one in Washington DC which is also good) and don't forget to get a beer sampler - love the microbrews!
